Liverpool learned their Champions League quarter-final fate earlier on this morning with Jurgen Klopp’s men being drawn against old foes Real Madrid – much to most Liverpool fans delight.

If the Reds manage to overcome the task that is Real Madrid in both ties of the fixture then they will face a fantastic semi-final that could parallel that of our 2005 Champions League win. Klopp’s men will face either FC Porto or Chelsea if they can overcome Real, which could lead to a very interesting matchup indeed.

If Chelsea were to beat Porto in their semi-final and we make it through as well, it would see the same semi-final that we faced in 2005 as well as the final taking place in the same host city as well – interesting I know. The club’s Twitter account tweeted the news after it was announced earlier today…

There have been plenty of similarities in our current season and that of our Champions League victory in 2005 which leads to plenty of Liverpool fans getting excited about the possible prospect of No.7.

No matter what though, the main importance is to overcome Real Madrid first with the opportunity to right some wrongs after the famous 2018 Champions League final between us and Real, which saw Salah ruled out early on in the game after Sergio Ramos injured the Egyptian – which will cause real desire to get one back for Salah and the Reds.

Can Liverpool beat Real Madrid in the quarter-finals?

Yes

Yes

No

No

The outcome of Porto vs Chelsea will also be very interesting and either way, both opponents will put up a real test if we were to face either of them in the semi-finals – but there is hope from myself and likely other Reds fans that no matter who we face, I believe we could win the competition again this year.

What do you think Liverpool fans, will we face Chelsea or Porto if we beat Real? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
