I am sure that I and many other Liverpool fans were frustrated with yesterday’s loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup – especially given the start to the game that we enjoyed.

After taking the lead in the 18th minute, the Reds failed to build upon their lead and allowed United back into the game with them eventually losing 3-2 thanks to a free-kick from Bruno Fernandes in the 78th minute which won the game for our rivals, with us crashing out of the FA Cup in the fourth round.

One Liverpool fan, however, was more annoyed than most this morning, calling into radio show TalkSPORT to voice his thoughts on the game, saying that Manchester United cheated to win the game after he felt that Edinson Cavani dived to win the free-kick that won them the game…

Well, Peter certainly had his fair points laid out there – we definitely gave them a good game and I felt during most of the 90 we were the better team. He is also right that our defence was a lot weaker than it could have been with a defenisve midfielder and a 19-year-old academy graduate both playing alongside each other.

Now, having watched the foul over, and over, and over – yes I’ve watched it quite a few times but only to get a fair assessment on it and I have to say – I can understand why it was given as a foul.

Despite Cavani looking as though he is already going to ground, Fabinho knees him in the back of his thigh which warrants the contact being made – but it looks worse due to the momentum of Cavani already going to ground. It is a really soft challenge but I can understand why the foul was awarded.

I think we were unlucky to lose the game in the manner we did, realistically we should have killed the game off after the first goal but we allowed United to get themselves back into the game and we all know what happened from there onwards.

What do you think Liverpool fans, do you agree with Peter? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
