Liverpool favourites to sign Chelsea’s Mason Mount

|

Liverpool are reportedly the most likely destination for Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount, should the star leave the club in the summer.

Contract negotiations between Mount and Chelsea have hit a standstill with the midfielder believing his contract doesn’t reflect his importance to the team.

This is according to Bobby Vincent in his article for the Liverpool Echo, who suggests that Liverpool would lead the race to sign the 24-year-old if contract talks don’t progress before the summer transfer window.

Mount has been an ever-present for Chelsea this season, but could fall victim to the £500million spending spree that has took place over the last six months at Stamford Bridge.

With the likes of Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk and Christoper Nkunku all joining the club and with the Blues expected to spend £70million on Brighton’s Moises Caicedo- Mount’s future has become a debatable topic at the Bridge.

The 24-year-old has struggled to find form in a poor Chelsea side that currently sits in 10th place in the Premier League, with the midfielder only scoring three goals and assisting six in all competitions this season.

For me, this link is a strange one as Liverpool don’t play with an attacking midfielder but instead with a six and two eights.

However, it is a certain problem that Jurgen Klopp’s midfield has always lacked direct creativity such as goals and assists and Mount could provide that crucial link between the midfield and attack.
