As the transfer window deadline looms, Liverpool have yet to identify a midfielder to sign, worrying times for fans of the Reds.

Now, it has been claimed that Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool hierarchy have been keeping a “watchful eye” over Benfica star Enzo Fernandez, according to Sky Sports.

The Argentine only joined Benfica this summer from River Plate, however, it’s thought he would be the perfect addition to Liverpool’s frailing midfield.

Liverpool have already done business with Benfica this summer, signing Darwin Nunez for a club-record fee of £85million.

Fernandez’s name has been thrown into the hat out of nowhere, which suggests there is definitely some interest from Liverpool.

Despite this, a move for the midfielder seems very unlikely to transpire this summer, which is a move fans are craving most.

A potential Liverpool move for Fernandez was also confirmed by an Argentinian outlet that reported the Reds had sent scouts to watch the midfielder against Boavista. [Diario Uno].

Fernandez fits the bill for the type of player Liverpool would sign, at just 21 years old he already has an extensive CV.

In seven games for Benfica, the Argentine has scored three goals, a total that will almost definitely improve as the campaign progresses into 2023.

This is definitely a transfer story to keep your eye on the Reds, especially moving into the summer transfer window next season.
