It is no secret that Liverpool has failed to add to their midfield the way they have to other football pitch areas. That said, Jurgen Klopp has convinced the Liverpool hierarchy that it is time to get midfield reinforcements. We all know that FSG is looking for intelligent deals with great ROI. That thought process makes RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer a great transfer target.
The Austrian midfielder has mentioned that he is open to playing in the Premier League. He is a player who fits the Klopp mould and the transfer Liverpool criteria of Liverpool owners FSG. Young, hungry, skilful, and free of cost.
There were unconfirmed rumours that Liverpool moved late in the transfer window to get his services, but it was too late. Liverpool then signed Juventus’ Arthur Melo, who is out injured. However, with just six months left on his current contract, a January move might not be out of the question unless RB Leipzig wishes to lose him for free in the coming summer transfer window.
News #Laimer: As often mentioned he is a candidate for #LFC in central midfield. But no decision at this stage. Tendency is that the he won’t extend his contact in Leipzig. Therefore he could be a free agent in 2023. No pre-contract with Bayern or other clubs. @SkySportDE 🇦🇹

The disappointing start to the new season is because Liverpool failed to sign a midfielder in the summer window. Now, smart purchases will be needed to ensure that Liverpool can bring someone in during the January window and salvage a season that seems to be slipping away from them. If they fail to add anyone, they risk not finishing in the coveted top four and could miss out on Champions League football next season.
Manchester United’s manager Erik Ten Hag is also interested in signing the 25-year-old. However, a report on 90min says that Klopp is way more eager to bring him to Anfield, “Now, 90min has been told that Laimer and his representatives are open to all options which includes a possible move to England, and a move could even could as soon as January.”
