Liverpool midfielder could join Brighton this month

|

Liverpool midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, could be on the verge of leaving the Reds this month in favour of a move to Brighton.

This is according to reports from the Daily Mail, that claim the move relies on whether Liverpool would let the midfielder leave for free this window.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s current contract at Anfield is set to expire in June and he isn’t expected to sign a new deal, which means he can leave the club for free in six months time.

However, Brighton are pushing to get the deal over the line in this window.

Liverpool will be hoping that any potential move could be used as leverage in their pursuit of Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, with a price tag of £100million being slapped on the Ecuadorian.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Liverpool for months now but in recent weeks it seems that Chelsea have started to lead the race for Caicedo as they look to find a replacement for N’Golo Kante.

The Seagulls current sit above the Reds in the Premier League table, so unless this move creates an opportunity to get Caicedo then I don’t see the point in letting Oxlade-Chamberlain leave earlier than the summer.
