Liverpool midfielder to be offered a new contract

|

Liverpool midfielder, Curtis Jones, is set to be offered a new contract according to Paul Joyce of The Times.

The 21-year-old’s current deal is set to expire in 2025, however it is believed that the club are eager to renew his terms to keep him at the club past that date.

Jones has struggled for fitness over the past 12 months, leaving him with limited game time and the progression of the likes of Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho hasn’t helped his case very much.

This news may come as a surprise to some Liverpool fans, with many believing the midfielder isn’t good enough to play for Liverpool.

However, I believe there is definitely an incredibly talented player in there which could be found if he was given some solid game time so perhaps a loan move could massively help Jones.

After making 82 appearances in total for the club, the local lad has huge amounts of experience for his age that he has picked up since bursting onto the scene as an 18-year-old after scoring an absolute scorcher to beat Everton in the FA Cup.

Jones has also managed eight goals for the Reds, with three coming in the Premier League against Sheffield United, Brentford and Aston Villa.

I’m certainly looking forward to seeing what sort of player Jurgen Klopp can shape Jones into, whether it be part of a front three or the midfield three.
