Liverpool player voted greatest January transfer signing of all time

|

Liverpool legend, Luis Suarez, has been voted the greatest January transfer signing of all time according to @SPORTbible.

The Uruguayan received more than 40% of the votes, leaving him quite far ahead of the rest of the nominees.

Another Liverpool legend Virgil Van Dijk came second in the vote, finishing above Manchester United duo Bruno Fernandes and Nemanja Vidic.

Suarez signed for Liverpool from Ajax in 2011 for around £22million and went on to become one of the most talented players that Anfield has ever seen.

Many label the forward as the most naturally talented player the club has ever seen in the whole of their illustrious history.

The Uruguayan came so close to almost single-handedly leading the Reds to their first league title since 1990, losing out on the title in the final three games of the 2013/14 season.

Despite missing the opening seven games of that season, Suarez scored 31 goals (none of which were from penalties) and notched 12 assists in the Premier League alone.

In total, he went on to make 133 appearances for the Reds, scoring 82 goals before leaving the club to sign for Barcelona in a deal worth £75million in 2014.

Virgil Van Dijk might be unfortunate not to win the vote, as he did one thing that Suarez couldn’t quite do during his spell on Merseyside.

Other than winning the League Cup in 2012, Suarez didn’t win one of the major trophies, whilst Van Dijk has lifted the Champions League, Premier League and every other trophy possible whilst at Liverpool.
