After prevailing 6-1 against Brighton & Hove Albion in the fifth round, Liverpool will now face a home tie against Stoke City in the quarter-finals of this season’s FA Cup sponsored by Budweiser.

The Reds had previously enjoyed a last gasp 2-1 victory over rivals Manchester United and an entertaining 5-1 triumph over Oldham Athletic of League One.

For their part, 10-man Stoke City defeated Crawley Town 2-0 to secure their place in the final eight. The win followed the elimination of Derby County and Gillingham in previous rounds.

Liverpool and Stoke have met on three previous occasions this season and honours have thus far been fairly even. Stoke winning 1-0 at The Britannia and drawing 0-0 at Anfield in the league. Whilst the Reds eliminated the Potters 2-1 on route to next Sunday’s League Cup final.

The tie is scheduled to be played on or around the weekend of Saturday 17th March 2012.
