Napoli have had an £11m offer for the Spanish left-back rebuffed…

Widespread media reports on Thursday, including in The Telegraph, claim Liverpool have rejected an £11million bid from Napoli for Alberto Moreno.

The attacking full-back, who managed just 295 minutes of Premier League action last season, is widely expected to depart Anfield this summer but the Reds appear to be holding out for around £15million.

Such a figure would represent a £3million profit on the £12million paid to Sevilla for the Spanish international in August 2014.

Upon his arrival Moreno was initially first choice under then-manager Brendan Rodgers but some high-profile errors and the arrival of Jürgen Klopp have resulted in a reduced role during the past two campaigns.

In total, the 24-year-old has represented the Merseysiders 104 times, scoring three goals.

In addition to Napoli, the reports suggest both AC and Inter Milan have shown an interest, while former club Sevilla are continuing to monitor the situation.

Vital Comment
Despite his questionable positioning and penchant for a gaff, I actually feel there’s a very good player lurking in Moreno somewhere. That said, left-back clearly isn’t the right role for him and Liverpool have better options in attacking positions so selling him is definitely the correct decision. If he were to go to a team that plays with wing-backs, however, I can genuinely see him forging a highly successful career elsewhere.
