The lowdown on the man in the middle for Liverpool’s hosting of Newcastle United on Saturday…

The Premier League has announced the officiating teams who will be taking charge of top-flight fixtures during Matchweek 29 of the 2017/18 season.

The players of Liverpool and Newcastle United, who meet at Anfield for a 5.30pm GMT kick-off on Saturday, March 3, will be joined on the pitch by referee Graham Scott.

Simon Long and Daniel Cook are his designated assistants, while Neil Swarbrick will be patrolling the technical areas in the role of fourth official.

Scott’s 23 previous games this season have yielded a total of 57 yellow cards and four red.

Liverpool won their only previous match played under the 50-year-old’s control this term, thrashing Brighton & Hove Albion 5-1 at the Amex in early December (one yellow card shown, none to Liverpool).

Newcastle drew their one 17/18 encounter with Scott 1-1 against Swansea City at St James’ Park in mid January (three yellow cards shown, none to Newcastle).

The Abingdon native’s yellow card average this campaign currently stands at a miserly 2.47-per-game, with a red card shown every 5.75 matches.

Scott is associated with the Oxfordshire County Football Association and has been a member of the Select Group of Premier League referees in 2015.
