The lowdown on the man in the middle for Liverpool’s hosting of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday…

The Premier League has announced the officiating teams who will be taking charge of top-flight fixtures during Matchweek 26 of the 2017/18 season.

The players of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, who meet at Anfield for a 4.30pm GMT kick-off on Sunday, February 4, will be joined on the pitch by referee Jonathan Moss.

Eddie Smart and Andy Halliday are his designated assistants, while Martin Atkinson will be patrolling the technical areas in the role of fourth official.

Moss’ 23 previous games this season have yielded a total of 84 yellow cards and three red.

Liverpool lost their only previous encounter played under the 47-year-old’s control this term when Sadio ManĂ© was contentiously dismissed in the 5-0 away defeat to Manchester City on September 9 (four yellow cards also shown, two to Liverpool).

The visitors, meanwhile, also suffered defeat – 1-0 at Manchester United in October – on the only occasion they’ve had Moss in the middle during 2017/18 (one yellow card shown, none to Spurs).

The Sunderland native’s yellow card average this campaign currently stands at 3.65-per-game, with a red card shown every 7.66 matches.

Moss is associated with the West Riding County Football Association and has been part of the Select Group of Premier League referees since 2011.
