According to Football Insider, Liverpool have made an approach for Ajax’s Brazilian forward Antony and want to bring him to Merseyside this summer.

The report suggests Liverpool have held talks over a potential move and believe the forward would fit perfectly into Jurgen Klopp’s playing style and system.

The Reds aren’t the only team interested in the Brazilian’s talents, with Manchester United also chasing the 22-year-old’s signature.

Erik Ten Hag previously coached the forward at Ajax which may give Liverpool’s rivals a slight headstart in the race to sign the youngster.

The winger evidently has the talent to mix it with the best in Europe, but it’s surprising that Liverpool are being linked with him considering their current options up top.

Antony has made 79 appearances for Ajax, scoring 23 goals along the way, but it’s his direct style of play and speedy counterattacking prowess that is appealing when considering him for Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

The report goes on to say that Ajax are slapping a £59 million price tag on the Brazilian, a price that Liverpool would surely be unwilling to pay, after splashing out £85 million on Darwin Nunez last month.

It remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool actually make a move for the Ajax winger, but a move to Old Trafford for the 22-year-old seems much more likely than Anfield.
