Liverpool star to be sidelined for five months

|

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has been dealt yet another huge injury blow ahead of Liverpool’s return to domestic action next week.

Earlier in the week, it was revealed that Colombian winger, Luis Diaz, had travelled back to the UK after suffering a setback in his return from injury.

However, now it is known just how bad the setback is and Liverpool fans may want to cover their eyes for this one.

Acccording to The Athletic, Diaz will be out until March at least and will require surgery on his knee, meaning he will have been out since the start of October, in Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates.

Speaking on Sunday ahead of Liverpool’s game against Lyon in Dubai, Klopp said: “It’s clear it’s a big disappointment for all of us, for him as well. When the news came, it was a big smash in the face.”

The forward will certainly be a huge miss to the Reds, as we saw in Liverpool’s poor start to the season which leaves them sitting 6th in the league.

Frustratingly, Diaz had a great start to the season despite his side’s issues, really pushing on from his form last season after signing from FC Porto in January.

Klopp is left with a dilemma now, with some suggesting the Reds need to dive into the transfer window in January to sign a forward amidst Diaz and Jota’s injury issues of late.
