This season has been a strange one so far for Liverpool fans to comprehend with injuries galore to most of our star players and a lack of form and results leading to one of the worst title defences in Premier League history, with the Reds currently sat in sixth place.
Recent form has picked up in the Premier League with our run in Europe proving to be a real stress release and opportunity to build on recent form – but the season overall has seen a real change in one player in particular.
Star winger Mohamed Salah has continued to score goals despite recent results with him currently leading the race for the Premier League golden boot with 17 goals, but fellow forward Sadio Mané has struggled in front of goal recently compared to the ruthlessness we saw from him last season with his goalscoring numbers.
The Senegalese winger has been the club’s most consistent performer this campaign according to WhoScored with an average match rating of 7.34/10 but has failed to score in his last seven games in the league which really doesn’t represent how impressive and important he has been lately for Jurgen Klopp.

Anyone who watched the game against Wolves last night would have seen just how relentless Mané was on their defence with 5 shots, 2 key passes, 5 successful dribbles, as well as being fouled 4 times on top of his assist for Diogo Jota’s game-winning goal.
However, the winger just can’t seem to find that goal that he so desperately needs, and I think you can see his confidence in front of the goal has been massively harmed this season compared to that of the previous few seasons. I do think that Mané will get the goal he needs to regain that confidence and goalscoring form of fellow teammate Salah – but clearly, he needs help from the fans and the squad to get him back in the swing of things.
