Mohamed Salah continues to break records

|

Mohamed Salah scored a record-breaking hat-trick in his substitute appearance against Rangers at the Ibrox Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Egyptian replaced Darwin Nunez in the 68th minute last night and it took just six minutes for Salah to score his three goals, all of which were set up by fellow substitute Diogo Jota.

This became the quickest hat-trick scored in Champions League history, previously held by former Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis.

The Liverpool forward also broke the record for the most goals scored for a single English club in Champions League history, with Salah now sitting on 38 goals in the competition overtaking the likes of Didier Drogba and Sergio Aguero.

Roberto Firmino got on the scoresheet twice, whilst goals from Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott rounded off the 1-7 thrashing, leaving the Ibrox empty.

The Egyptian king is now tied top goalscorer in this season’s Champions League, alongside Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski, with five goals in four appearances.

Salah has become under intense pressure since signing a new contract in the summer, with his performances not being up to his usual world class standards.

After being hooked off with twenty minutes left against Arsenal on Sunday then being started on the bench last night, it was easy to see that Salah had a point to prove and Rangers ended up on the receiving end of a Mohamed Salah masterclass.

They aren’t the first and they definitely won’t be the last.
