Having been at the club for almost three years now, Naby Keita has made quite the impression on the Reds faithful and not quite in the way you may have initially expected.

When he joined the club from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2018 plenty of people felt that he would be the main man in Liverpool’s midfield and unlock that attacking potential that the club craved in midfield after most of our creative outlet coming through our full-backs in Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.

Sadly for Keita, the impression of his Liverpool career so far hasn’t been to do with his attacking ability or his quality on the ball but instead about his injury record – with him having a tough time in regards to his fitness whilst on Merseyside.

Should Liverpool sell Naby Keita?

Despite this, the club is determined to make his career work at Anfield with the club’s new addition in Dr. Andreas Schlumberger, who became our new Head of Recovery and Performance in December, working closely with the Guinean international to try and get him back on track, with the hope that by being extra cautious, he will come back and stay back for the rest of the current campaign according to The Athletic’s James Pearce, as cited by AnfieldWatch on Twitter…

All Liverpool fans know just how good a player Keita is and the talent he possesses and there are no doubts on how far he can progress for this Liverpool side if he is able to stay fit.

We have seen glimpses of his talent and ability over the last couple of years and when fit and on form, he is easily our best midfielder even with new addition Thiago now in the mix.

Hopefully, the work that he and Schlumberger have been doing will have a hugely positive effect on his fitness and future performance as I really think that with our current squad situation, Keita could be a real solution to ease the tide on our midfield.

What do you think Liverpool fans, can Keita save his Reds career? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
