In what is turning out to be one of the summer’s longest transfer sagas, Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho should wait for the move to Liverpool to happen instead of Manchester United.

What’s the word?

There has been an almighty tug of war to secure the services of the former Manchester City youngster. Having moved to Germany for just £8m back in 2017, the English winger has blossomed into one of the most promising young players in Europe.

During this timeframe, Sancho has gone on to score 34 goals and provided 43 assists from 99 appearances, accumulating almost 7,000 minutes in the process, as per TransferMarkt.

He has become a household name and has managed to pick up 11 caps for England, one of the few players that has progressed in the national side having played their football abroad.

Should Sancho hold out for a move to Liverpool?

Manchester United are reportedly the front runners to capture him this summer. Although it is unclear as to what the current situation is at this stage.

But his head has appeared to have been turned in recent weeks by the interest of Liverpool. But his price tag of £100m looks unlikely to be met due to the Reds’ financial constraints this summer.

Patience is a virtue

With Liverpool reaching the peak of English and European football over the past 13 months, they have made themselves an attractive proposition as far as playing for them is concerned.

Manchester United are without a league title in seven years and haven’t won a trophy for three consecutive seasons, which is not to say they won’t win one soon. But Liverpool are at the top of their game, with Klopp installing a formidable and ruthless mentality on and off the pitch which Sancho would be suited to.

The England international is a world-class talent, and with many friends at the club through the likes of Rhian Brewster and Trent Alexander-Arnold, he could have a long and successful career on Merseyside.

There is a lot of pressure at United to perform almost instantly. Having made the big-money move from Leicester City last summer, Harry Maguire’s move has not turned out the way that he would have wanted so far.

The warning signs are there, with the Red Devils still trying to develop their winning formula, while the Reds are perfecting theirs. For that reason, Sancho should hold out until Liverpool can afford him.
