Qatar prioritising the purchase of Liverpool Football Club

|

Qatar are reportedly getting closer to purchasing Liverpool Football Club, according to reports from both the UK and the Middle East.

Reliable Middle-Eastern journalist, known as Qatari, has reported that they are making it their priority to strike a deal with Fenway Sports Group.

Their interest is described as ‘serious’ but the deal isn’t fully completed just yet.

Fenway Sports Group have owned Liverpool Football Club since 2010, but put the club up for sale in October after 12 years as owners.

It is expected that it would cost at least £3.5billion to buy the football club, but the fee is rumoured to not be a stumbling block for the interested party.

This news comes just days after Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol spoke on their programme about investors from Qatar wanting to kick on in the world of football following the huge success of the Qatar World Cup last month.

There has also been interest from the Middle East over the purchase of Manchester United, which was also put up for sale by the Glazers last month.

Sets of fans from both Liverpool and Manchester United are currently planning protests against the owners, in a bid to push the sale through quicker than the current rate.
