Rating every Liverpool player’s season (Forwards)

|

With the World Cup break upon us, it leaves us a good opportunity to look back and reflect on the season so far.

In the last two articles we rated all of the keepers, defenders and midfielders to play for Liverpool so far this season, and now we will be looking at the forwards.

Diogo Jota- 6.5/10

It has been a very frustrating season for Jota due to multiple injuries keeping him on the sidelines more often than not. Despite only making a few appearances for the Reds this season, the forward has looked really bright when given the opportunity. Yet to score a goal this season but has created two assists including a vital one for Mohamed Salah against Ajax.

Luis Diaz- 7.5/10

Diaz would’ve most likely been rated higher if it wasn’t for the injury he picked up at the start of October. The Colombian started the season really strongly, scoring four goals and creating two assists in a side that was in abysmal form at the time. I can’t wait to see Diaz back fit again after the World Cup break, he’s some player.

Roberto Firmino- 9/10

Already beating the numbers he put up in the whole of last season, the Brazilian has been on fire this season. Scoring nine goals and setting up four assists already this season, Firmino has played a vital role in keeping the Reds in touch with the race for top four (not bad for a forward who was labelled as ‘finished’ by many).

Darwin Nunez- 8.5/10

As much as neutral fans won’t like to admit it, Nunez has made a very solid start to his career on Merseyside. Apart from Erling Haaland, Darwin Nunez is the only player to average a goal involvement every game (every 84 minutes to be exact). Despite only playing a few full nineties since his move in the summer, Nunez has managed nine goals and two assists and has scored some vital goals for the Reds.

Mohamed Salah- 9/10

Again, a lot of neutral’s have been criticising Salah this season, but he has in fact proved once again that he can pull this Liverpool side through almost anything. Fourteen goals and five assists by the start of November would be considered as an unreal season usually, but maybe that is the effect that Erling Haaland has had on people’s expectations- absolutely bonkers.
