Last night saw Liverpool cruise their way to the knockout stages of the Champions League after their 1-0 victory over Ajax, leaving them winners of Group D with a minimum of 12 points.

Freelance Liverpool journalist DaveOCKOP on Twitter highlighted a key aspect of the performance with the focus on the club’s youngsters and their role in the club winning the group as well as in the Reds being joint-top of the Premier League with Tottenham…

Dave makes some great points over the club’s recent victories thanks to the efforts and performances from Liverpool’s youngsters and academy graduates.

Jurgen Klopp has a history of promoting youth through the ranks and has done a great job at integrating the club’s current batch of young stars into the first-team squad. Of course, the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold are instantly compared too when talking about Liverpool’s recent academy graduates making their name in the footballing world – and Klopp is doing exactly the same with players such as Kelleher, Rhys Williams, Neco Williams, Jones, etc.

A lot of credit needs to be given to the club’s young stars for the current successes of this season so far – the Reds have struggled greatly with injuries this season, with players such as Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez leaving the club without their first-choice central defensive pairing.

I personally hold the current situation with this season with great thanks to our younger players who have stepped up and put in some stellar performances and hopefully it won’t be the last time we see some of the kids feature for the club this season.
