Liverpool’s Carabao Cup hero Caoimhín Kelleher says he will make a decision on his future at the club in the coming weeks, once he has finished international duties with Ireland.

Kelleher made a name for himself this season after playing throughout Liverpool’s triumphant Carabao Cup campaign, scoring the decisive penalty against Chelsea in the final at Wembley.

Calm, cool and collected Kelleher asserted his claim as the clubs go to number two, behind arguably the world’s best goalkeeper in Alisson Becker.

The Irish Examiner asked Kelleher in a brief interview about his plans for the future and whether or not he wanted more first-team action elsewhere.

“I’m not sure what’s happening yet. Obviously, I need to play these few games and see what happens with these and maybe decide after that.” He said after being quizzed about a move away from Anfield.

Kelleher has been a phenomenal backup goalkeeper for Liverpool this season, and it would be hard to find a suitable number two with as much talent as he possesses.

The Irishman is set to start his sixth international in a row, a nod to his stock rising; but it may be hard for Jurgen Klopp to convince the ambitious youngster to remain as his second choice.

There will be plenty of Premier League vultures ready to pounce to acquire his services.

It would be foolish of Liverpool to let Kelleher leave the club, he’s more than proven his worth this season despite his second-choice status at the club.
