Liverpool have been significantly boosted as they maintain their interest for the Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore.

What’s the latest?

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield during the past six months as the Spain international continues to impress in the West Midlands.

But after the temporary suspension of the 2019/20 campaign, various sides have taken severe financial impacts, which has meant that some have had to cut back on transfers.

The Mirror believes that Wolves are ready to cash in on Traore as boss Nuno Espirito Santo has been told by the club’s owners that he must raise funds for his own transfer plans this summer, with Manchester City also taking a serious interest in the winger.

Jurgen Klopp raved about him during the midway point of last season following his side’s 2-1 victory against Wolves, describing him as “unplayable”.

Previously, Traore had spoken of his aspirations to return to La Liga one day, having spent 10 years at Barcelona, cited by El Larguero.

Would you sign Adama Traore for £75m?

Yes, bring him to Anfield

No, ridiculous price tag

Soccerlink claimed back in January that because of interest from other clubs, Wolves had put a £75m price tag on his head, the same amount of money that Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk back in January 2018.

The price must be right

As we all know, Liverpool do not have the funds that Manchester City or Chelsea have, and have already seen deals fall through for the likes of Timo Werner and Jamal Lewis due to financial constraints.

The Reds’ backroom staff are having to use their knowledge, to the best of their ability, to cleverly negotiate this troublesome period.

Having already brought the Olympiakos defender Kostas Tsimikas to Anfield for £11.75m, there is an appetite from the supporters to bring in more fresh faces in preparation for our first Premier League title defence, after abolishing our 30-year wait for a title win.

I highly doubt that Klopp’s team will spend what Wolves are asking for Traore and that those measures are in place purely because of Liverpool’s interest.

As we are about to enter unfamiliar territory, who knows what tricks Klopp and sporting director Michael Edwards have up their sleeve. It’s hard to believe that it is £75m, though.
