Everything is not what it seems on the surface.

That’s my takeaway when it comes to the latest update regarding the future of one of our young prospects potentially leaving Anfield.

According to reports in The Daily Mail, Sheffield United are one step closer to taking young prospect Rhian Brewster off our hands, as the Blades have reportedly been offered the chance to start negotiating personal terms, even though the clubs themselves are yet to agree anything in terms of a fee for him.

Journalist Alan Nixon recently revealed the other day that it all comes down to whether or not Chris Wilder’s men are willing to insert a buy-back clause into the deal, with fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace reportedly willing to pay more for his services, but without the buyback clause.

And I think that a buyback clause is pretty crucial to this deal, because I certainly want it to be inserted, as I really do think that Brewster could be onto something when it comes to his career at Anfield if he carries on his current trajectory.

Does Brewster have a future at Liverpool?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Having had an incredible loan spell at Swansea City last season, a step up to the Premier League is just what he needs to test himself, and whilst this may come across as a ‘permanent’ deal, the buyback clause essentially means that we can use it as a sort of loan deal, whether that be for one year, two years or even three.

Let him get some playing time under his belt and then if he turns into something, we essentially get first refusal on whether or not we want to bring him back later on, when hopefully he’s proven himself capable at this level.

What about you? Do you like this arrangement we could be getting for Brewster?
