I often get a bit of a kick out of seeing members of rival clubs take a poke at Liverpool or try to slate them in any way and former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane is no exception.

The Manchester United legend has often been favourable of Liverpool over the last few seasons after becoming a secret fan of our football and success since winning the Champions League and Premier League titles since 2019 – however, his tune has changed after our recent poor form, with him now deciding that Jurgen Klopp’s side has an attitude problem since winning the Premier League title last season.

As written about by The Athletic’s James Pearce below, Keane was only quoted back in November stating how he saluted the hunger and mentality of Klopp’s squad (something that he more often than not goes on about, this ‘mentality’ that he is so obsessed with), but now he has decided against this and think’s Liverpool are ‘bad champions’…

As Pearce says in the article, Keane never needs a second invitation to stick the boot into Liverpool and it is funny to see him change his mind so quickly just because we are going through a rough patch of form.

I don’t really care too much for Keane’s opinion on the club, his punditry is pretty limited as it is and his key arguments when talking about football more often than not go back to just saying about how players or clubs have poor attitudes and will then refer back to when he was playing for United – bore.

Are Liverpool out of the title race?

Yes

Yes

No

No

We all know why Liverpool are going through a rough patch and it happens to the best, including Keane when he was captaining United. The Irishman was keen to point out that when you are a big club you have to deal with setbacks but he seems to forget how United failed to deal with his cruciate ligament injury back in 1997 that ultimately saw the Red Devils lose the title.

Either way, Keane is wrong to label the Reda as bad champions, they’re simply facing a dip in form due to having played at the top level for three seasons running and it is finally taking its toll.

What do you think Liverpool fans, are you bothered by Keane’s comments? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
