The FA Cup third-round draw will take place at Anfield

|

The Emirates FA Cup third round proper draw will take place on Monday 28 November, with clubs from the Premier League and EFL Championship joining the 2022-23 competition at this stage.

Liverpool’s Emirates FA Cup third-round opponents will be revealed on Monday night. A total of 64 teams have gone through to the next round of the FA Cup.

The Reds will host the next stage draw at Anfield as trophy holders, with procedures beginning at 7 pm GMT live on BBC Two and the FA Cup’s official social media outlets.

Premier League and Championship clubs will now compete in the competition, which Jürgen Klopp’s team won for 2021-22 at Wembley in May. For the draw, Liverpool will be ball number 21. Third-round matches are scheduled to be played on Saturday, January 7.

The dynamics of this year’s FA Cup will be different given that many players will return from the World Cup in Qatar.

The ‘magic’ of the domestic cup is that any side may beat another on their day. With some of the world’s top players on display, there is plenty to look forward to in the FA Cup going forward. Will the third round see any of the so-called lesser teams end up being a giant killer? Time will tell.

The schedule for the subsequent rounds  of the FA Cup is as follows:

Fourth Round Proper Saturday – 28 January 2023
Fifth Round Proper Wednesday – 1 March 2023
Quarter-Final Saturday – 18 March 2023
Semi-Final Saturday – 22 April 2023
Final Saturday – 3 June 2023
