Loads of Liverpool fans applauded the squad’s commitment to supporting local food banks while the season is currently on hold.
Premier League football has been halted as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and is not expected to continue until at least 3rd April. With reports suggesting that the illness is not expected to peak for another 10 to 14 weeks, it is unlikely at this stage that our title charge will continue for some time.
Will we lift the Premier League trophy behind closed doors?
Yes
No
The club announced on their official website that they will be donating £40,000 so that the organisation Fans Supporting Foodbanks can stay afloat while games have been postponed. They also revealed that they will make a cash donation to the North Liverpool Foodbank.
As a result, supporters were delighted and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described us as “the new people’s club”, with an obvious jibe towards hated neighbours Everton.
Proud of my club. We could be complaining about the league issue but instead we are showing class and a sense of perspective. @karren_brady might want to take note. #stayclassy #ynwa

Never been prouder of my club in the last few days. Rather than bleet thier self centred opinion on what could or should happen they have talked about nothing but the humanity of this situation. A class act #YNWA

I’ve always loved this club, but there is just something about this particular group of players/manager that makes me especially proud to be a Liverpool fan right now.
