This Liverpool star could benefit from a position change

|

Liverpool are currently without both Virgil Van Dijk and Ibou Konate due to injury, but they could have a makeshift backup option already waiting in the wings.

Naturally you would claim the Reds are left with just Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams as options at the heart of the defense.

However, Fabinho is a player that could provide some quality to the position in the absence of the two starters.

The Brazilian has really struggles for form so far this season and has recently lost his place in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield to 18-year-old, Stefan Bajcetic.

It seems that the 29-year-old no longer has the legs to play a part in the heavy pressing style of midfield that Klopp has always looked to have.

You might remember a time when Klopp has been left in a similar position to this, when Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez were all sidelined with long-term injuries in the 2020-21 season.

That year we rotated between Nathaniel Phillips, Rhys Williams, Ozan Kabak and Fabinho and ended up contributing to the club somehow finishing third in the Premier League that year.

Unfortunately, that sort of finish looks highly unlikely this season but it might be an option that Klopp could like at again.
