Transfer Deadline Day: Konate injured for three weeks

|

Things go from bad to worse for Liverpool. Ibrahima Konate is facing up to three weeks out with a hamstring injury. He will miss games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton, Newcastle United, and potentially Real Madrid in the Champions League.

With this latest injury to Konate and with Virgil van Dijk injured, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez who are both notoriously injury prone will now be Liverpool’s first and choice center-back pairing. Liverpool and Klopp are close to having Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams getting a lot of game time over the next month or so.

Konate sustained this hamstring injury on Sunday in the FA Cup tie that Liverpool lost 2-1 against Brighton Hove Albion.

Earlier in the season Konate missed almost two months of football with a knee injury. During that period the center-back missed ten games in the period between August 1st and September 25th. The news of this injury has been updated to the Liverpool fanbase via Paul Joyce (@_pauljoyce) a reputed football journalist for the Times.

The club is yet to give out an official statement on the extent of his injury and how long he will exactly miss. This news could affect and change the plans for Natt Phillips who was expected to leave Liverpool on this transfer deadline day. Galatasaray and FC Schalke both were interested in Phillips, but yet another chance to leave Liverpool seems to have eluded the center-back who is looking for regular first-team football action.

Do you think Liverpool might look to bring in a stop-gap arrangement on transfer deadline day?
