Liverpool’s scary injury record over recent years

|

Liverpool fans have started to wonder what is going on behind the scenes at the club to cause the long-list of injuries over recent years.

For the opening three or four years under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool barely suffered any injuries- apart from the odd minor issue with the likes of Adam Lallana, for example.

However, ever since the beginning of the 2020-21 season, Klopp has very rarely had a full strength squad to choose from.

Players like Andy Robertson, Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Ibou Konate, Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, James Milner, Arthur Melo, Harvey Elliott, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have all suffered major injuries that have sidelined them for at least a month.

Jurgen Klopp is currently without Van Dijk, Konate, Arthur, Luis Diaz, Jota, Firmino and Fabio Carvalho- leaving his squad for the upcoming Wolves game looking extremely thin.

His side has lacked any sort of rhythm and consistency, with 19-year-old Harvey Elliott being the only player to feature in every game for the Reds this season.

As much as that speaks volumes of the talent and potential Elliott has, it also proves how much improvement this squad needs.

Some fans have suggested that Klopp needs to calm the intensity in training, with players looking exhausted after an hour in nearly every game.

Is it just bad luck? Or is there something seriously wrong behind the scenes at the club?
