As 2022 comes to a close, we have chosen our top five Liverpool goals in this calendar year with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold featuring.
5. Mohamed Salah v Manchester City
Liverpool went into this clash with Manchester City in a frustrating run of form, leaving them sitting outside of the top six.
A win was crucial for the Reds, and the game was stuck at 0-0 until the late stages of the game where a moment of Mohamed Salah magic left Joao Cancelo’s head spinning.
The Egyptian went on to slot the ball past Ederson and send Klopp’s men on their way to a vital 1-0 victory against City, keeping Erling Haaland quiet in the process.
4. Trent Alexander-Arnold v Rangers

With their Premier League form being abysmal, Jurgen Klopp’s men turned to the Champions League in search of some consistent form.
Liverpool came up against Rangers, where Trent Alexander-Arnold produced a world-class free kick.
Curling the ball into the top corner from range, sending Liverpool on their way to a 2-0 victory.
3. Luis Diaz v Crystal Palace
Liverpool were left in a sticky situation as they found themselves 1-0 down at home to Crystal Palace at the start of the season.
Darwin Nunez’s stupid red card for headbutting Palace defender Joachim Andersen only made things worse for the Reds.
Fortunately, Luis Diaz took matters into his own hands, easing past three defenders before slamming the ball into the bottom corner from outside the box.
The match frustratingly finished 1-1, but it kept Liverpool’s Anfield record alive for a little while longer.
2. Trent Alexander-Arnold v Bournemouth
Liverpool pulled off a historic win against Bournemouth at Anfield in August, with the Reds thrashing Scott Parker’s side 9-0.
There was plenty of good goals in the game, but the pick of the bunch was Trent Alexander-Arnold’s long range strike that flew past the keeper into the top corner.
Not bad for a defender.
1. Sadio Mane v Manchester City
My favourite goal from 2022 was Sadio Mane’s goal to put Liverpool 3-0 up against Manchester City at Wembley in the FA Cup Semi Final.
From the build up play by the likes of Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita, to Thiago Alcantara’s world-class chipped pass, to Sadio Mane’s insanely clever volley past the City goalkeeper.
This goal sent the travelling Reds crazy.
