Player Ratings: Liverpool 2-1 Leicester City

|

Liverpool came out 2-1 winners in their final game of the year against Leicester City at Anfield on Friday evening, but how did the Reds actually perform?

Here are our player ratings from the win:

Alisson Becker- 7/10

A solid performance from the Brazilian despite not having a lot to do and not standing much chance for the visitors’ goal.

His kicking and distribution was spot on throughout as usual.

Trent Alexander-Arnold- 9/1o

A great performance from Trent at right back, both offensively and defensively.

Involved in both goals and was fantastic in his positioning and one-on-one defending, keeping Harvey Barnes quiet throughout the entire game.

Joel Matip- 6/10

Should’ve done better for Leicester’s goal after being dragged out of position far too easily and then looked fairly average but comfortable for the rest of the game.

Virgil Van Dijk- 7/10

A composed game from the Dutchman as usual.

Never phased by any attacking play from the Foxes and was as calm as you like on the ball.

Andy Robertson- 6/10

Wasn’t great at the start of the game, too many lose touches and was then substituted for Kostas Tsimikas after picking up a minor injury.

Jordan Henderson- 5/10

Extremely poor from the skipper, poor positioning, poor passing and sometimes looked generally lost in the game unfortunately. One to forget for the captain.

Thiago Alcantara- 8/10

The Spaniard had a really impressive game, anticipating every second ball and his passing was a joy to watch as usual.

Hopefully he will still start against Brentford despite covering a massive amount of ground tonight.

Harvey Elliott- 6/10

The youngster struggled to get a real hold on the game but looked good in spells.

Was constantly drawing in fouls but didn’t have the end product that we saw against Southampton before the World Cup break.

Mohamed Salah- 6/10

Was bright at times, but didn’t manage to have the impact that is always expected from him.

Could’ve had a few better chances if Nunez’s passing was a bit more on point, but if things aren’t working for you then it’s up to you to make things work for yourself.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain- 6/10

An identical performance to the one against Aston Villa, with the winger not getting on the ball anywhere near enough and not being profitable when he had it at his feet.

For me, Fabio Carvalho has to come in when Liverpool travel to Brentford on Monday.#

Darwin Nunez- 6/10

His composure needs to be worked on.

The Uruguayan would be up there with the likes of Harry Kane for goals if he was calmer in front of goal.

Very effective until the final product. Frustrating.
