Two comical own goals send Liverpool to victory against Leicester City

|

Liverpool completed their fourth win on the bounce in the Premier League, after beating Leicester City 2-1 at Anfield on Friday evening.

A seven minute disasterclass from new Leicester defender, Wout Faes, saw the Belgian score two horrendous own goals to rule out Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s opener in the fifth minute.

The win keeps Liverpool in 6th place in the Premier League, but are now just two points behind Tottenham Hotspur in fourth place having now played the same number of games.

Manchester United currently sit in between the two sides in 5th place, one point ahead of the Reds but with a game in hand.

It was overall a fairly average performance from Jurgen Klopp’s men, but they just couldn’t find that cutting edge to grab a few more goals in the game.

Nunez and Salah were once again dangerous but were unable to find the back of the net.

The highlight of the game (apart from the hilarious own goals), was Trent Alexander-Arnold’s performance, with the full-back putting in a superb performance both offensively and defensively.

Alexander-Arnold was involved in the build up of both goals and kept Leicester winger Harvey Barnes quiet for the whole game and was superb when lift in one-on-one situations.

Liverpool’s next game sees them travel to London to face Brentford on Monday, looking to continue their winning streak and their push for Champions League football next season.
