Liverpool and England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has been dropped from the next international friendly where England takes on Germany. This is good news for Liverpool fans, given that the player will get some much-needed rest before the return of an important part of the Premier League.
Since his international team breakthrough in 2018, Trent has played 17 matches out of a potential 58 games for England. This questions whether the English manager, Gareth Southgate, has an agenda or really knows what he is doing. In that long time, Trent has won every top flight trophy possible as a player for Liverpool in the Premier League.
It is getting quite clear that Southgate does not trust and believe in Trent, who has been one of the most prolific players for Liverpool in the recent past. Fitness was clearly not an issue as he was fully fit and participated in every training session. He was overlooked for the game against Italy, with everyone expecting him to get a chance against Germany. However, he has not been included in the matchday squad for England’s final international match, against Germany, before the World Cup to be held in Qatar in December.
It is also important to note that England has not won any of their last six international matches.
Whenever a player makes the news, there is some speculation regarding his transfer. Trent and Liverpool are no exception. Barcelona is looking to sign Trent, the team against which he has made of the most legendary assists in UEFA Champions League history. However, this is surely just a rumour.
