Despite strengthening their defensive options in January with the signings of Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak, Liverpool are still likely to bring in further cover at the back in the summer transfer window.

French centre-back Dayot Upamecano had reportedly been the main aim for the club a few months back in the summer but after German giants Bayern Munich confirmed the signing of the youngster yesterday, the Reds have turned their attentions elsewhere.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool have identified Torino’s Brazilian centre-back, Bremer, as their top transfer target for the summer after the 23-year-old has impressed this season for the Italian outfit despite them sitting just above the relegation zone in the Serie A standings.

The Reds had been linked with a move for Bremer in January too but failed to get a deal over the line in time with the clock ticking and options limited for the club. However, it seems as though Liverpool have kept their eyes on Bremer and will likely make a move for the Brazilian at the end of the season.

Although Torino had a tough start to the season recent results have slowly started to pick up with them now unbeaten in their last five games and are slowly making their climb but up the Serie A.

Bremer would likely cost less than £10 million for the Reds according to The Mirror, which would be a steal given how highly the club rates him as well as the fact he is only 23 which definitely holds within the club’s transfer policy.

New boy Kabak made his debut for the club at the weekend and played well for most of the game but the team all but collapsed during the last 20 minutes of the game as well as the Turkish international making a mistake alongside goalkeeper Alisson – but the 20-year-old still has time to make an impression. Even if the club does sign Kabak on a permanent deal, the signing of another centre-back is imminent.
