Claims made that Klopp is interested in Napoli star

|

According to INSIDE FUTBOL in Turkey, Jurgen Klopp has gotten in touch with Napoli star Eljif Elmas and informed him that he wants him to join Liverpool. Elmas is 23 years old, has a high ceiling, and has a great future in top-flight football. This transfer rumour has cropped up recently in the middle of what seems to be a midfielder hunt going on at Liverpool.

Elmas joins a long list of potential transfers that Liverpool is interested in. Jude Bellingham, Sofyan Amrabat, Moisés Caicedo, and Enzo Fernandez are on that list.

Elmas has been on the books of Italian heavyweights Napoli since joining from Turkish team Fenerbahce in 2019. Still, only 23, the North Macedonia international has been linked with a move to the Premier League on several occasions. However, he decided to stay in Napoli. Currently, Napoli has a healthy lead at the top of Serie A, and they will likely win the title.

Klopp is now eager to bring him to Liverpool, and according to Turkish journalist Ahmet Ercanlar, contact between the player and the club has been established. If Elmas does join Liverpool, Fenerbahce will be entitled to a share of the transfer price, given the way the contract has been drawn up. Elmas played in both of Napoli’s UEFA Champions League matches against Liverpool this season, providing Klopp with an up-close look at the midfielder. But, of course, we all know how that ended up for Darwin Nunez.

The midfielder has a contract with Napoli until 2025. He has made over 150 appearances for the Italian club. He will not be high up the priority list but will undoubtedly be a more affordable option for the Reds amongst those they are linked to.
