Transfer Deadline Day: Galatasaray chasing Liverpool’s Nat Phillips

|

According to The Athletic, Liverpool can expect Nat Phillips to leave the club on transfer deadline day. Both Galatasaray and FC Schalke are keen to get his signature. That being said, Liverpool sources insisted no firm offers for either a loan deal or permanent transfer have been received for Phillips. The centre-back has made five first-team appearances for Jurgen Klopp this season.

Phillips has been given the green light to leave the club. Liverpool is willing to listen to any of these three possible outcomes; a 6-month loan until the end of this season, a loan with an option to buy in the summer transfer window, and a permanent transfer on transfer deadline day. The Reds have put a price tag of at least £8 million on him if anyone wants to sign him on a permanent deal.

The Turkish Super League leaders, Galatasaray, are leading the chase to sign Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips and are very keen to secure the signature of the 25-year-old centre-back. However, Phillips is also open to switching to Istanbul and joining the league leaders.

Initially, Phillips was set to stay at Liverpool as cover due to the hamstring injury sustained by Virgil van Dijk. However, the early return of fellow centre-back Rhys Williams has led to the possibility of a transfer on deadline day.

This kind of transfer makes sense for Liverpool as they look to cash in on the fringe players in the squad to bolster up their transfer kitty ahead of what looks to be a summer transfer window that will need deep pockets to assist in the midfield rebuild.
