The Reds produced another impressive display despite the current injuries to the squad, with a 3-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday night, with one player impressing in particular.

Liverpool journalist DaveOCKOP on Twitter highlighted the statistics of 34-year-old free transfer James Milner following his display at right-back…

Milner started the game on Sunday against the Foxes and according to DaveOCKOP, recorded his 41st assist for the side, despite often playing out of position and not even starting most games.

I completely agree with him that the 34-year-old has to be one of the greatest signings the club has ever made and easily the best free transfer Liverpool has ever had. He has always been ready when called upon and has helped to lead the Reds through tough games over the years as vice-captain.

Often having to play out of position, you never hear a single complaint from the man and that is something that Klopp clearly loves – the Englishman is fully committed to the cause and continues to produce even when not in his preferred central midfield.

His versatility is something that is a rarity in football these days, with Milner having played in 9 different positions during his career bar centre-back and in goal – an incredible statistic considering his consistency in the sport. Under Klopp, Milner has played six of those nine positions, including at left-back for a whole season where he still managed 7 goals with 3 assists, simply incredible from Millie!

I have no doubt that he will go down as a Liverpool great at the end of his career – and quite easily the best free transfer in maybe not just the club’s history, but the whole league in my opinion!
