In the light of Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Leicester on Sunday night, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp made his feeling’s clear during his post-match interview with Sky Sports about his feeling’s over the current situation with jam-packed match schedules and TV broadcasters roles in the matter.

Football writer James Nalton took to Twitter during the interview, tweeting Klopp’s comments about TV contracts during a time such as this…

It is clear that Klopp is getting more and more frustrated as the weeks go by, with him airing his thoughts on the matter more than two weeks ago after the club’s draw with Manchester City in the Premier League.

This time, however, the German has turned his attention over to the TV broadcasters in the UK and their part in the problem. It is obvious that the companies such as Sky Sports and BT have influence over the schedules of the league matches, as they will want the best games at the best times to maximise their viewership – especially given the sizes of some of the broadcasting contracts we see nowadays, they’ll be wanting to make their money back and then some.

I get completely where Klopp is coming from with his frustrations – the Reds have had injuries galore this season, with six current first-team players on the sidelines according to Transfermarkt. The amount of games currently being played this season is already too many to handle, along with the international break that has just been played out over the last few weeks resulting in further injuries to players such as Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson whilst on England duty.

Whatever comes from Klopp’s comments, it has certainly started the conversation over player welfare and the current schedule of league and European football.

What do you think Liverpool fans, does Jurgen Klopp make a case about the current situation? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below…
