Since joining the club in the summer of 2018, Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has struggled to make a real impact at Anfield with his two and a half years at the club plagued by injuries.

During his time at the club, Keita has picked up 12 separate injuries or absences over just two and a half seasons missing a total of 48 games in all competitions with him only managing 71 games under Jurgen Klopp with 7 goals and 4 assists during that time.

Due to this, there have been calls for the club to seel Keita on after failing to really make much of an impact at the club, with The Athletic’s James Pearce discussing the issue on the latest edition of The Red Agenda podcast after a number of people told him that the club should get rid of him and that his time at the club is up (32:01), which you can see below…

“That’s easier said than done because how much of a financial hit are you going to take then, because, he’s the one major signing’s of Klopp’s reign, that arguably isn’t worth now anywhere near what Liverpool actually paid for him, you know, I think you’d be lucky to get half that if you were trying to cash in your chips.

“So, more than anything Liverpool, they don’t need to get rid of Keita, they need Keita to get back to where he was, which convinced Liverpool to sign him in the first place.”

I have to agree with Pearce – given the current financial circumstances, Liverpool would be silly to let Naby Keita leave in the summer as they would no doubt take a massive hit compared to what they paid for the Guinean midfielder.

Would you sell Naby Keita?

Yes, get rid

Yes, get rid

Absolutely not

Absolutely not

Even in a normal market, it would be a big hit to the club’s finances and the Reds would likely not be open to letting something like that happen – instead, there is hope that Keita can turn things around a get his form and fitness back on track but that seems to be a running theme with Keita’s career on Merseyside.
