After last night’s 1-0 loss to Southampton at St Mary’s, many Liverpool fans will be waking up today with a feeling of frustration and questions as to how and why the Reds couldn’t find a way back into the game.

I myself have felt frustrated with the manner of the defeat and the lack of firepower that we have been experiencing as of late when watching Liverpool – and manager Jurgen Klopp has also been feeling the frustration and aired his frustrations after the game last night.

Goal.com’s Liverpool correspondent Neil Jones tweeted the German’s quotes after the game from his post-match interview with Sky Sports, where he stated that they should have done better on the night…

You can tell that Klopp is just as frustrated as us – he clearly knows that his Liverpool side can produce a better performance than what we saw and he also knows that it doesn’t just come down to the players on the pitch.

Klopp excepts blame on himself too when he stated it is mainly his fault but the boys had a hand as well – it is clear something isn’t quite clicking at the club right now compared to the form and performances we were seeing last season.

Something will definitely need to change if the club have hopes of retaining their Premier League title and the recent chatter surrounding the need for the further defensive cover to be signed during the January window isn’t nearly as important at the moment as is the problem upfront for Liverpool.

Our striker force seems to have depleted and as of late, have failed to make an impact on games that last season we would have breezed through. Since our 7-0 win against Crystal Palace, we have only managed 2 points from a possible 9 and have scored just 1 goal with a 1-1 draw against Fulham, a 0-0 draw against. Newcastle, and now a 1-0 loss to Southampton.

Whatever is going on with the squad right now, it is evident a change is needed and hopefully, the boys will return to form sooner rather than later.
