After becoming the first-ever Japanese player to represent Liverpool, Takumi Minamino has shown glimpses of the talent and ability that he possesses and can produce for the Reds in all manner of games.

From 29 appearances for the club, Minamino has scored 4 goals but recently started to find his form for the Reds and just before Christmas was one of the stars of the show during Liverpool’s incredible 7-0 win against Crystal Palace but since then has been absent from the starting XI for no reason known to the fan base.

Since our win against Palace, we have managed only 2 points from 9 games with draws against West Brom and Fulham, and a loss to Southampton last night – with our front three and attacking options failing to produce during these three games, it has lead to a great amount of confusion for Liverpool fans.

What I’m struggling to understand personally is that since that win and performance from Minamino, he hasn’t had a sniff of game time with either a start or substitute appearance which I really don’t understand.

Minamino had finally started to find some form and was getting a decent run of games together with his goal and 8.35/10 performance against Palace before Christmas but has since been essentially exiled.

Liverpool are clearly having an issue upfront with our front three failing to find a good run of form and as of late have failed to covert a myriad of chances provided for them during our games.

Whatever the case, I think it is unfair that given the issues that Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino, and Mo Salah are currently experiencing, Minamiino hasn’t had a sniff over the past three games to further prove himself and what he can provide for the club’s attack going forward.
