Jurgen Klopp reacts to ‘massive’ Spurs victory

Jurgen Klopp gave his reaction to his sides’ 2-1 victory over Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, Liverpool’s first away win in the Premier League this season.

When asked if his side were at the level he wants them to be at, Klopp replied: “This is not the start or whatever, we are in a phase, we realised already and spoke about it, but for tonight we couldn’t reach more than three points. We got them and that’s massive.”

The German was also seen doing his trademark fist pumps towards the away end after the game, a sight we haven’t seen much of this season. Klopp had this to say: “Yeah. It was not my plan actually, I didn’t want to do it but I got carried away and I thought the people deserved it a little bit after tough times. They had now had to travel a lot in the Premier League until they saw the first three points.”

The Liverpool boss also heaped praise on defender, Ibou Konate, saying: “Ibou first half he was already outstanding. A top game absolutely.”

Finally, Klopp also addressed Mohamed Salah’s form, claiming: “Even with a ‘slow start’ he was involved in the most chances in Europe, in football, but we didn’t take them or he didn’t take them. That can happen for a striker, it’s completely normal.”

“So I am really pleased for him, top performance and showed an outstanding attitude tonight.”

It was a huge victory for Liverpool in an indifferent season that has seen us suffer from some yo-yo form.

With the World Cup break looming, it will be interesting to see who, if any, players Klopp will bring in to bolster the squad ahead of what will be a challenging few months in the title race.
