Liverpool will play Real Madrid in the Round of 16 of the Champions League, with the ties scheduled to be played in February 2023.

The two sides will meet once again, for the first time since Liverpool were defeated by Madrid 1-0 in last season’s Champions League final in Paris back in May.

The Reds will host Los Blancos at Anfield in the first leg, set to be played on the 21st February before travelling to the Santiago Bernabéu on the 15th March with a place in the Champions League Quarter Finals awaiting the winner.

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, had this to say about the draw: (Liverpool FC Official Site)

“It is a really good draw. A really exciting draw. The games themselves are still a few months away but it does not take a great deal of imagination to think what the atmosphere will be like at both games.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side have struggled against Real Madrid in recent years, losing the 2018 final 3-1 and the 2022 final 1-0- as well as getting knocked out by Madrid in the Quarter Finals in 2021.

The draw also pulled out a few other juicy fixtures such as Paris Saint-Germain against Bayern Munich.

Domestic rivals Manchester City will face RB Leipzig in the last 16, whilst Chelsea play Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham face AC Milan.
