After winning their first-ever Premier League title last season and their first league title overall for the past 30 years, the Reds were set on retaining their title this campaign to add even more silverware to the trophy cabinet.

The Reds started the season well with three wins from their first three games but things started to change from there, with the Reds losing 7-2 to Aston Villa and then drawing 2-2 with Everton the game after. A run of good games did follow but time and time against this season the club has drawn and lost games that last season would have been comfortable victories.

Recently, minus the recent Aston Villa win in the FA Cup due to the Reds playing a weaker squad, our attacking outlet and ability has been way off of last season and what we usually expect from the club’s front three – and I think it is down to the current system not working due to the impact of Fabinho and other midfielders having to play out of position at times to accommodate for the injuries to our defence.

With our next game against Manchester United in the Premier League just over a week away, I think it would be wise for Jurgen Klopp to change up his approach and shape or formation ahead of the game to get the most out of the players currently at his disposal.

Since joining the club, the German has more than often opted for a 4-3-3 formation and recently played a 4-2-4 to fit in new boy Diogo Jota into the starting XI before his injury.

I think it may be interesting to see him maybe opt for a 4-2-3-1, with Thiago and Jordan Henderson in that midfield pivot, with Sadio ManĂ© and Xherdan Shaqiri on the wings after the Swiss internationals recent positive appearance off the bench – completed with Roberto Firmino in that No.10 role and Mohamed Salah up front.

Whether that would work or not is unknown – as we all know I’m not the Liverpool manager and he certainly knows the squad better than me but I think a new approach is definitely needed.

What do you think Liverpool fans, is a new approach needed for the squad? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
