Liverpool and Manchester United to fight for £100m Enzo Fernandez

|

Liverpool and Manchester United are set to fight each other for the signature of Enzo Fernandez, with reports suggesting both clubs will meet the £100million price tag for the 21-year-old.

This is according to Portuegese transfer specialst, Pedro Almeida, who is reporting that both Premier League clubs have matched the asking price for the youngster.

This would be a record transfer fee for the club, beating the signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica themselves just last summer, in a deal worth around £85million.

Fernandez has massively impressed whilst at the Qatar World Cup, helping to lead Argentina to their triumph- beating France in a penalty shootout in the final.

After beating Manchester United to the signature of Cody Gakpo in the last 24 hours, this race could be set to be even more intense between the two clubs.

With a possible deal for Jude Bellingham not looking possible until the summer, Fernandez could be the perfect option to come in and add depth and quality to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

With Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s current deals set to expire in June, as well as Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson in their thirties- this deal could be massively important in the long term.
