According to an update from journalist Diego De Luca via Area Napoli, Liverpool are reportedly battling to sign Lille starlet Victor Osimhen – tabling a huge €70 million (£62.2 million) offer along with Tottenham Hotspur.

Osimhen, who has bagged 13 goals and four assists in 25 Ligue 1 starts this campaign, winning more aerial duels than any Reds attacker in that time, is reportedly enticing our interest as we search for more attacking depth beyond our traditional front three.

Should Liverpool sign Osimhen for £62.2 million?

Yes, way better than Werner

Yes, way better than Werner

No, too expensive

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has been the most heavily linked target with a move to Merseyside, and a recent piece from Sport Bild has claimed that manager Jurgen Klopp already held a ‘virtual meeting‘ with the player back in Easter.

However, according to De Luca, we have now also turned our attention to Lille striker Osimhen, who has had a brilliant season in Ligue 1 and registers some pretty impressive statistics.

Indeed, as per WhoScored, Osimhen has averaged a superior amount of shots per game than the likes of Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane – with only Mohamed Salah totalling a higher amount over the Nigerian.

The youngster’s aerial presence is also cause for admiration, having won an impressive 4.4 per game in the league, potentially highlighting the fact he could evolve into a capable target man should the Reds opt to pursue his signing.

Having scored 18 goals in all competitions, teammate and former rival striker Loic Remy has heaped praise on Osimhen in the past – describing him as a ‘real finisher’ to Lille’s official website via le10sport.

It appears the 21-year-old’s credentials are evident, but it’s unclear whether Fenway Sports Group will follow through on the alleged £62.2m offer.
