According to a report from Italian news outlet La Nazione, Serie A giants Fiorentina have entered the race to sign Liverpool target Marcus Thuram this summer – giving Jurgen Klopp’s side a battle we pursue the 6ft 4 star.

Thuram, who has scored 10 goals and assisted eight others from the wing over 2019/2020 in the Bundesliga, starting 28 games overall, is reportedly at the centre of Liverpool’s interest as we gear up for our first ever Premier League title defence next campaign.

Son of France footballing icon Lillian Thuram, Marcus has turned heads with his array of impressive displays, with teammate Denis Zakaria describing the attacker as ‘phenomenal‘ earlier this campaign.

Now, however, Liverpool may face competition for his signature as Fiorentina enter the hunt – but whoever leads the race, he will not come cheaply according to reports.

Indeed, German outlet Express claim that he will cost in the region of €50 million (£45.3 million), potentially putting question marks around our stance when it comes to the promising 22-year-old.

Klopp and co recently cast a shade of doubt over big money moves this summer given the financial impact of recent events, with Liverpool controversially applying for the government’s furlough scheme back in early April.

However, with the return of football and rumours aplenty, it will be interesting to see whether the Reds do in fact swoop for Thuram who has an impressive reputation.

Fiorentina’s newly found alleged interest could make things interesting as Liverpool reportedly eye swooping for Thuram, but whether or not we take the plunge remains to be seen.
