Liverpool are close to completing a £1 million deal for Derby County youngster Kaide Gordan, with the 16-year-old set to join the Reds’ academy with the fee possibly rising to £3 million including add ons according to Metro.

The Reds are currently in pole position with fellow Premier League clubs Manchester United and Tottenham in pursuit of the young midfielder that has been labeled as a great talent with a lot of potential by manager Wayne Rooney.

Gordan is a versatile young player who can operate across the front line as well as an attacking midfielder and will no doubt be one for the future if the Reds can secure his signature – with him representing England at U18’s level.

Jurgen Klopp seems to be keen on strengthening his youth setup, with youngster joining former Birmingham City academy youngster Calum Scanlon who agreed on a six-figure deal to join the Reds’ academy just before Christmas.

Despite calls from fans for Klopp and the club to sign a defender this month, the boards’ attention appears to be elsewhere on the club with them failing to address Liverpool’s issues in defence amongst the first-team with only one senior centre-back available for selection in Joel Matip.

Nevertheless, it is good to see the investment being put into our youth academy and the young players at the club as we have had a nack of molding some fantastic current first-team players through the academy with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Neco Williams, Caoimhín Kelleher, and Rhys Williams just to name a few who have become a part of the current squad and are all proving to be great players for the future of the club.
