Liverpool linked with Chelsea star

|

Liverpool have been linked with a shock move for Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount, according to recent reports by The Guardian.

The Reds will apparently face competition from Italian giants, Juventus, who are also said to be monitoring the situation of the England international.

Mount’s current deal at Stamford Bridge is set to expire in June 2024, in just eighteen months’ time, and talks have been put on hold until after the Qatar World Cup in late December.

The common belief amongst clubs after Mount’s signature, is that if a deal hasn’t been agreed by the summer, then Chelsea may consider letting the midfielder go.

The 23-year-old is one of the lowest paid players in the Chelsea first team, which is quite ridiculous considering how crucial Mount is to Graham Potter’s Chelsea side and has been one of their most consistent performers in recent years.

Mount has had a solid season so far for Chelsea, scoring two goals and setting up six in twenty-one appearances for the club.

Despite still being a young player, the Englishman has made an astounding 181 appearances for Chelsea in total, scoring 32 goals and creating 37 assists which proves the creative ability Mount holds.

Liverpool have been desperate for a creative midfielder like Mason Mount for years now, as a proper link between the midfield and attack in the same way that Fabinho is the perfect link between the defence and the midfield.

With the Reds being linked heavily to the likes of Jude Bellingham, Frenkie De Jong and Youri Tielemans recently, a move for Mount would certainly be an interesting one and could reignite a feisty rivalry between two of England’s biggest clubs.
